The Quarry is Supermassive Games' new game, following in the footsteps of other popular and similar kinds of games that they have previously created like Until Dawn. The similarities between Until Dawn and The Quarry, from the ages and size of the group of protagonists to the way the settings of each game mirror each other have fans wondering about the relation between the two games, and if there is anything more there. Here's all the information we know about the relationship between The Quarry and Until Dawn.
Is The Quarry Related to Until Dawn?
Until Dawn was released back in 2015 by Supermassive Games, and featured a story that revolved around eight stranded people in the deep mountains, fighting for their lives against mysterious forces trying to kill them. It featured a "playable horror movie" style of game that has not been replicated until The Quarry was released. The Quarry features nine different camp counselors stranded at camp and forced to solve puzzles and fight for their lives.
Until Dawn was an incredible success, but as of yet has no sequel. While The Quarry is not a direct sequel to Until Dawn, it has been described as the "spiritual successor" to it. While the worlds and stories of these two games do not interact or overlap in any concrete way, the mechanics, stories, gameplay, and overall experience players get is very similar. The two games complement each other, with The Quarry building and expanding on the experience Until Dawn created, utilizing the new generation of technology to create a deeper and more immersive experience.
