The League of Legends Spirit Blossom Event welcomed two new champs to the roster. Lilia was released earlier in the event while Yone was released along with League of Legends Patch 10.16.

Because of the difference in release time, developers have decided to allow Lilia to enter competitive play at the League of Legends World Championship while Yone will not be active.

While the difference in release time between the two champs was less than two weeks, that served as an ample amount of time for players to workout Lilia's kit and find out what she can and cannot do. Although Lilia has not seen many picks in professional play, there are a few who have played her a jungler, rather than her secondary role in the top lane.

Yone on the other hand, upon release, was much more popular than Lilia due to his lore and his play style. Additionally, Yone is not a weak champ and can be extremely powerful in the mid lane, especially late game. Not only did he receive a nerf in League of Legends Patch 10.16b, but he also has one of the highest ban rates in the game.

Developers are clearly still trying to figure out how to best balance Yone and guide him towards his identity. But it seems as though Lilia has found her role as an AP Jungler who does not have much carry potential but is useful in team fights and has decent crowd control. It remains to be seen if Lilia will get any playing time at the highest competitive level in the world or if she will be buried.

The League of Legends World Championship is set to begin on Sept. 25 and will continue until Oct. 31.
