The first patch of the year includes champion balances (buffs, nerfs, and updates), item changes, as well as new skins. It affects mid lane tier list with assassins rising to the top tier, while control mages lose their dominance.

1. S-Tier

Fizz and Zed continue their dominance in the mid lane despite the minor nerfs they received. In this patch, they are accompanied by Ekko, Galio, Pantheon, Anivia, and Viktor. After getting a buff in patch 10.25, some players already predicted that Ekko would be quite overpowered in the mid lane and jungle.

2. A-Tier

Kennen, Malphite, Yasuo, Kassadin, Katarina, Rumble, Annie, Heimerdinger, Ahri, Diana, Swain, and Cassiopeia are doing well this patch. Riot Games has been trying to balance Yasuo and Yone for a couple of months now. As one of the high skilled champions, Yasuo players will need to be smart about his itemization as his kit has been adjusted multiple times. While his AD per level has been nerfed, the right itemization will bump up his crit bonus.

3. B-Tier

CC-rich champions dominate the B-tier list in the mid lane. Neeko, Xerath, Aurelion Sol, Lux, Brand, Zilean, Seraphine, Malzahar, Morgana, Twisted Fate, Orianna, Zoe, Vel'koz, Sett, Talon, Kog'Maw, Kayle, and Akali are still viable picks on the mid lane. Akali, in particular, has been nerfed in all fronts. She historically has been a constant pick in pro play and fan favorite thanks to her fun kit and high damage.

4. C-Tier

Sylas, Irelia, Lissandra, Corki, Karma, Leblanc, Qiyana, Lucian, Ziggs, Ezreal, Tristana, Syndra, and Ryze are not doing so well this patch. Even though Ryze got buffed recently, it still is not enough for him to get back to his 2018 and 2019 form. With the end of carry jungler meta, Lucian falls down to C-tier in the mid lane.

5. D-Tier

Late-game champions like Zyra, Azir, and Veigar found themselves at the bottom of the list. They are extremely weak early game and can easily get outscaled by enemy midlaners and AD carries.
