League of Legends top lane tier list Patch 10.8 covers the best champions to use in the role.

Picking the right champion in the right situation can be the difference between winning and losing a game, and the tier list can help you avoid weak laners and find strong team-fighting champions to get your team the win.

League of Legends Top Lane Tier List Patch 10.8

League of Legends S Tier Top Laners

  • Kled
  • Sett
  • Darius
  • Maokai
  • Ornn
  • Wukong

Nothing much changes in terms of the top tier of top laners on League of Legends Patch 10.8, with the kings of top lane staying the same from Patch 10.7. Even though Sett is going to receive another round of nerfs to his Haymaker (W) damage on Patch 10.8, he'll still remain one of the stronger options due to his late game team-fighting and ability to soak damage with the shield from Haymaker.

League of Legends A Tier Top Laners

  • Fiora
  • Jax
  • Shen
  • Vladimir
  • Tryndamere
  • Kassadin
  • Poppy
  • Camille
  • Volibear
  • Zac
  • Aatrox

Shen, Zac, and Poppy have come out of nowhere to challenge the conventional top lane meta on the previous two patches and look to continue their run of success on Patch 10.8. They're joined by Kassadin and Tryndamere, two champions known for their late game scaling and ability to change games once they reach three items.

League of Legends B Tier Top Laners

  • Mordekaiser
  • Garen
  • Rengar
  • Cassiopeia
  • Olaf
  • Renekton
  • Riven
  • Yorick
  • Diana
  • Tahm Kench
  • Skarner
  • Kayle
  • Sion
  • Kennen
  • Gangplank
  • Cho'Gath
  • Trundle
  • Irelia
  • Urgot
  • Pantheon
  • Dr. Mundo
  • Qiyana

The B Tier top laners have some stand-out performers that have come out of nowhere to dominate in the top lane, like Qiyana and Skarner, and champions that have struggled to adapt to the Season 10 meta, like Mordekaiser and Renekton. For the most part, the champions in the B Tier are fairly safe to pick into most matchups, but you should be wary about blind picking them early in a draft, since a counter matchup and strong enemy jungler could shut you down early.

League of Legends C Tier Top Laners

  • Zilean
  • Nocturne
  • Graves
  • Anivia
  • Soraka
  • Heimerdinger
  • Hecarim
  • Quinn
  • Illaoi
  • Teemo
  • Malphite
  • Nasus
  • Veigar
  • Vayne

The buffs to Soraka's mana costs on Patch 10.8 is enough to see her make her way into the C Tier, alongside Vayne and Nasus. Each of the champions in C Tier is viable, but only into certain matchups. For instance, Vayne can do incredibly well against strong tanks like Ornn and Cho'Gath, but he's an incredibly weak pick into Kennen, Gangplank, and other meta top laners. In general, try to avoid the C Tier top laners unless you can ensure a favorable matchup and can rely on early jungle pressure to help you get into the mid game.

League of Legends D Tier Top Laners

  • Zed
  • Yasuo
  • Neeko
  • Gragas
  • Malzahar
  • Swain
  • Rammus
  • Shaco
  • Gnar
  • Lucian
  • Karma
  • Rumble
  • Fizz
  • Jayce
  • Lissandra
  • Sylas
  • Viktor
  • Ryze
  • Akali

Even with Ryze getting buffed on Patch 10.8, he remains among the D Tier top laners. Ryze, like Akali and Jayce, are more intensive champions that require strong play at every stage of the game in order to work. In other words, they're more difficult to pull off than other champions in the B Tier and A Tier that do the same thing, but better and without as much room for error.

Try to avoid D Tier champions at any cost. But if you've got a favorable matchup and you're comfortable on the pick, then feel free to take them into solo queue and show why they deserve to be feared on Summoner's Rift.
