Mercy will be getting reworked again in Overwatch 2. Mercy has seen plenty of development in the two betas released for the upcoming sequel. She's become a counter to Pharah, and gained a new ability as a result of a bug players found,

Her new rework was announced in a blog post Blizzard published July 28, which revealed that the studio will be working extensively on reworking and refining the character's super jump ability "Guardian Angel." Specifically, Blizzard wants to keep the directional changes they added in the recent beta, but they want to work on "canceling the ability with crouch" so that it "will launch her straight upwards, without having to look in that direction."

One of the coolest things about the developers building off of this ability is that it started as a glitch players found in the Overwatch 2 beta, and Blizzard liked it so much they decided to incorporate it into Mercy's kit.

The new ability gives Mercy a whole new dimension of mobility, allowing her to fly around the map and have full control of in which direction she's moving. This allows her to escape from danger easily, and to go toe-to-toe with Pharah, the only other high-flying character in the game.

With Overwatch 2 set for release Oct. 4, Mercy fans should be excited for all the new changes being added to the beloved character.
