October is here, and the scariest thing we have for Overwatch players is a potential shake-up in the tank rankings.

With Overwatch 2 on the horizon, players are looking to sharpen their skills with the available tanks in the roster. It's always possible that a hero's kit could be altered heading into the sequel, the development team appears to want to preserve its original look and feel.

Here's our take on the best and worst Tanks in Overwatch this October.

Overwatch Tank Tier List October 2021

S Tier

  • Reinhardt
  • Zarya

Surprising no one, crusader Reinhardt remains at the top of the heap when it comes to Overwatch's tanks. Nothing beats a good old-fashioned barrier tank and a well-placed Earthshatter to turn the tide. Meanwhile, Zarya is no stranger to the top tiers, herself. What is it with Blizzard and invulnerable bubbles?

A Tier

  • Sigma
  • D.Va

Sigma is currently at the bottom of the viable barrier tank list. He was once as popular—if not more so—than Reinhardt, and still retains that reputation. However, there's one aspect that will always leave him in the other's shadow: his ultimate. Sigma's ult can be survived if he hasn't been paired with a Pharah or sharpshooter like Ashe.

D.va, on the other hand, while technically a barrier tank, sits on the border between A and B tiers. Nothing can eat projectiles like Defense Matrix, but it simply isn't capable of the level of protection offered by Zarya, Reinhardt, or Sigma.

B Tier

  • Wrecking Ball
  • Roadhog

Wrecking Ball and Roadhog are very much situational choices depending on team and enemy composition. They take a bit of practice to master and use well in a match and, due to this, we've placed them in the B Tier. Neither has a significant protection ability in their kit, so, truly, these are the tanks you'll want to play when you want to annoy enemy players and take them down.

C Tier

  • Winston
  • Orisa

Ah, Winston. Always sad when a lore-heavy character ends up performing under par or all-around poorly in-game. We wonder if Pikachu feels this way. Orisa, on the other hand, while very much an interesting story in the game's narrative, is not a character we recommend picking up.
