Pokemon GO Philadelphia Event: Everything You Need to Know

Pokemon GO Philadelphia event has players excited to venture into the Safari Zone and come away with some prized catches.

Tickets have officially gone on sale for the newest community event to hit Pokemon GO players: Safari Zone Philadelphia. Trainers will have the opportunity to visit this historic city and explore more than they ever have before with an event like this.

In fact, it appears Niantic is even encouraging players to leave their designated event area in search of rare Pokemon like the European regional Mr. Mime, Braviary, a new Unown letter, and much more.

With a clear theme of red, white, and blue, Niantic is truly putting the city first with this Safari Zone event. Aspects such as the City Explorer Pass, the featured raids, Pokemon, and city-wide perks invite trainers to explore every aspect of this area.

Location, Timing, and Tickets

Safari Zone Philadelphia will run from 6 a.m. on Friday, May 8 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 10 and is centered in Fairmount Park.

Tickets range from $12 for the standard entry to $18 for the early access. Early access trainers will be able to experience gameplay early and get two extra hours of event programming.

Additionally, for the first time ever, players will have the chance to experience even more outside the chosen park. The City Explorer Pass is available for another $8 and includes extended event programming along with other exclusive perks.

Pokemon GO City Explorer Pass

Upon purchasing a City Explorer Pass, trainers will be able to leave Fairmount Park and still enjoy everything the event has to offer. Niantic has put in extra perks for City Explorers, as well, including:

• 10 exclusive raids at iconic locations around Philadelphia—no raid pass required. The featured Pokemon are Braviary, Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, two legendary EX bosses, and four still unannounced varying from one to four stars.
• 1/2 Hatching speed.
• Exclusive Research Tasks from PokeStops.
• 2x Incense Duration within city limits.
• Four hour Lure duration if placed by a City Explorer.

Pokemon Go Philadelphia Safari Zone Featured Pokemon

All Pokemon currently announced for this Safari Zone event share the same patriotic-adjacent red, white, and blue theme. As of now, these Pokemon are:

• Rufflet
• Braviary
• Unown P (possibly for Philadelphia?)
• Mr. Mime (European regional exclusive)
• Alolan Sandshrew
• Bronzor
• Voltorb (with its shiny variant)

The development team has alluded to more which are yet to be announced. We wouldn't be surprised to see Gyrados and its shiny variant make an appearance.
