Rathma Diablo 4: Everything You Need to Know

Rathma Diablo 4 is a new character coming to the highly anticipated sequel.

Those that tuned into the surprise Diablo 4 announcement at BlizzCon last Friday might be wondering who the mysterious man towards the end of the cinematic was that tricked the adventurers into summoning Lilith thus catalyzing the story of the next edition of Blizzard's hack-and-slash dungeon crawler.

While this has yet to be confirmed, the man seems to be none other than Rathma, who had yet to be seen until last weekend in the Diablo 4 reveal trailer.

Rathma Diablo 4: Everything You Need to Know

Rathma, the progenitor of the Priests of Rathma Necromancers and the son of Lilith, had previously been described as being tall and having white pale skin and typically covering his hair with a hood. In the cinematic, the man also calls Lilith "mother", further proving the theory.

Lilith, the succubi Queen, created the fore-bearers of humanity, known as Nephalem, with Rathma being a part of the first generation. Rathma's main drive is to preserve the balance of good and evil, which conflicts with the intentions of both his mother and father. Of course, this brings into question that if Rathma is indeed the man depicted in the cinematic, why would he summon Lilith if he belives she will disrupt the balance of good and evil?

Hopefully, as fans patiently await the release of Diablo 4, Blizzard will give us more insight to what the story behind Diablo 4 will be so that we can answer this question and many more as the cinematic requires tons of knowledge of the lore of the Diablo universe. The inclusion of Rathma as an integral part of Diablo 4's story is certainly a welcome way to further expand on the lore of the beloved action-RPG series.
