Shiny Mareep was the latest featured Pokemon during Niantic Labs' recent Pokemon GO Incense Day event.

Niantic Labs announced that Mareep would be among the featured Pokemon during Incense Day event on Jan, 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. During that time, trainers who used incense items attracted both dragon and electric-types like Mareep at an increased rate. Niantic events are usually a good bit of fun and beneficial for those who participate, but what's all the buzz about this static sheep? Well, it's not so much Mareep but its evolutionary tree that holds the real excitement.

Below, we've outlined exactly how to go about getting the best Ampharos possible.

Don't you hate it when you finally find a shiny, but its CP is trash? Although frustrating, trainers shouldn't find themselves discouraged. It's impressively easy to encounter multiple shiny variants of a featured Pokemon during their corresponding event. After all, a caught Pokemon is still a Pokemon that provides candies.

For the best results, trainers should prioritize Mareep with a CP ceiling around 990 and a three star appraisal. From there, they can use 25 candies to evolve it into a Flaaffy which should have a CP close to 1500. It will take 100 candies to take Flaaffy into the next and final stage: Ampharos. This Pokemon should have a CP near 2800.

Ampharos has a CP ceiling of 2852. Its attack stat is 211, defense is 169, and stamina is 207. When efficiently powered-up, it can have 175 total hit points. Trainers should look for movesets containing the quick move Volt Switch and charged move Zap Cannon.

Shiny Mareep's only notable change from its normal counterpart is the presence of cotton candy pink wool. It's secondary evolved form, Flaffy, keeps this wool, and also adds a green bulb to the end of its tail instead of the usual blue. Ampharos, the final form, follows through with a completely pink body and blue accent bulbs on its forehead and tail.

Mareep and its family tree are all from the Johto region with PokeDex numbers of 179, 180, and 181, respectively. Mareep and Flaaffy are known for the static electricity that builds in their wool while Ampharos can shine so bright it can be seen from space.
