Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developers Infinity Ward added the Most Wanted contracts to Warzone back on April 28. If picked up by a player, it would then make that individual visible to everyone on the map. If you survived, you would earn significant money as a reward, and all of your fallen squad mates would automatically be redeployed.

Unfortunately, this contract came at the expense of traditional Bounty contracts, and due to that fact there was wide community backlash. The Most Wanted contract was then shelved after just one day. Seen as a simple experiment by developers, it now seems that Most Wanted contracts have crept back into the game; showing up within the Daily Challenges list for some players.

Most Wanted Contracts May Return to Warzone in Season 4

While uncertain why Most Wanted and Bounty contracts could not both exist simultaneously in Warzone, the decision to remove Most Wanted contracts was mostly due to players no longer having access to Bounties. Bounties allowed aggressive-style players to hunt down other teams and gain access to monetary rewards very early in-game, thus allowing them to purchase UAVs and Supply Drops way before other players, giving them a huge advantage.

The inclusion of Most Wanted challenges appearing in-game may be just a bug, or refers to pre-loaded update data that was supposed to be a placeholder for the now week-long delay to the launch of season 4. Infinity Ward and Activision made the decision to press pause on the Season 4 launch because of the ongoing protests regarding police brutality and racism after the passing of George Floyd.

When season 4 eventually does launch, it will be interesting to see if this “leak” of information regarding Most Wanted contracts is an indicator of the controversial contract making its return to Warzone.
