What Does 'MP' Stand for in NBA 2K22 MyCareer?

A staple in the NBA 2K series, although players are able to make and change their own full name for their MyPlayer, they're also given a nickname so that the voice actors and commentary announcers have a consistent line to refer to them in games and cut scenes.

In previous 2Ks, players have been referred to as Pres, Che and even Freq, which is short for Frequency Vibrations (not kidding, seriously).

In NBA 2K22, 2K kept it simple, yet subtle.

"Each year, MyCAREER allows you to take control of a unique MyPLAYER’s journey to the NBA and beyond, and this year is no different. 2K22’s MyPLAYER is MP, a high school star with a hit social channel featuring videos of him embarrassing amateurs on the playground. MP has just moved to the City with his best friend and business manager Ricky Bennett, and they’ve got big plans. Not only do they want to take over the basketball world, but they want to make their marks in the exciting worlds of music and fashion."

As such, MP isn't an acronym for "Manny Pacquiao," nor is it "Embiid." It's simply short for "My Player."
