Pokemon GO trainers are a bit confused about the "Transform" Pokemon.

During the April Fools' 2-Oh?-22 event, trainers were able to pick up some special research made up of three different Ditto-themed stages. In the second stage, trainers are tasked with catching "three of the Transform Pokemon." This confused some who may have never heard the phrase "Transform Pokemon" before.

Allow us to clear up some of the confusion.

A Guide to Ditto, the Transform Pokemon

As you may have already picked up: the Transform Pokemon from the special research is Ditto!

Also known as the "Transform" Pokemon, Ditto is best known for its ability to take the shape and form of just about anything. This Pokemon is able to "rearranges its cell structure" to accomplish this. However, its accuracy depends on it being able to see the thing it's becoming. Ditto tends to get some details wrong if it attempts to transform solely from memory, alone. It was originally discovered in the Kanto region and its PokeDex number is #132.

Ditto has the following stats:

  • Maximum CP: 940
  • Maximum HP: 125
  • Attack: 91
  • Defense: 91
  • Stamina: 134

It can only have two moves on its own: the quick move "Transform" and the charged move "Struggle."

During the April Fools' 2-Oh?-22 event, trainers could find Ditto hiding as one of the following:

  • (Shiny) Ekans
  • (Shiny) Gastly
  • (Shiny) Natu
  • Surskit
  • Finneon
  • (Shiny) Dwebble
  • Swirlix

While these Pokemon may not be as common at the time of writing, that doesn't mean Ditto will never appear again. Its appearance is rare, of course, but trainers can typically encounter Ditto throughout the year.

Trainers may suspect they have a Ditto on their hands if the Pokemon in question is more difficult to capture than usual or has a higher than average CP total.
