What is the best Assault Rifle in Mass Effect LE?

Mass Effect Legendary Edition offers three games with all their own set of unique weapons to choose from.

There are a multitude of assault rifles in the games, however, there is one rifle that is simply a cut above the rest in two of the three games.

What is the Best Assault Rifle in Mass Effect LE?

Mass Effect

To those that are fanatics of the series, the first game has a simple answer as to what the best assault rifle is, or rather what are the best set of weapons to get: the Spectre - Master Gear set.

The set has a full arsenal of weapons that players can choose from that aren't limited to just assault rifles. Its pistol, shotgun, and sniper rifle from the set are undeniably overpowered and will allow you to mow down any enemy to help ease the playthrough.

The caveat of it all is that it isn't necessarily the easiest set to acquire.

For its assault rifle, there are only two levels to get the weapon in, VII and X (though you can access other levels with cheats). To get the level VII rifle, the "Rich" achievement must be unlocked by having over one million credits in the game. To get its level X rifle, money needs to be saved throughout the entirety of the playthrough as it will cost an arm and a leg to purchase it, and on top of that, Shepard will have to be level 50.

The gun is only purchasable through select vendors in the game: the C-Sec Requisition Officer at the Citadel and the Alliance Requisition Officer onboard the Normandy.

Mass Effect 2 and 3

Fortunately, for the last two games in the trilogy, the best assault rifle in both is simply one weapon.

The Geth Pulse Rifle is undoubtedly the best assault rifle to get in the last two games. Acquisition of the gun isn't as intensive as the first Mass Effect game, however, the second and third games do have varying degrees of difficulty when trying to do so.

In Mass Effect 2, the only way to get the pulse rifle is by playing the game on the "Hardcore" or "Insanity" difficulty settings during the Tali's recruitment mission at Haestrom (Dossier: Tali). It is located at the end of the mission on a platform that is left for completing the mission. This will not be an easy task, especially on a higher difficulty, however, being well prepared with other weapons should make it a little easier.

In Mass Effect 3, the gun will be found during the mission Priority: Geth Dreadnought, as it sits on top of a crate before entering the Operations Center in the game. If it was missed, it can still be purchasable from the Elkoss Combine Arsenal Supplies vendor at the bank in the Presidium Commons of the Citadel - though the mission will have to be completed in order to purchase it.
