Are you confused about why Fortnite needs to know your age? Don't worry we've got the reason why it is happening.

Epic Games' age requirement comes on the heels of the release of Fortnite Chapter 4. The latest expansion of the series gives fans the chance to ride around on motorbikes, play as Geralt of Rivia, and hurdle over obstacles as you explore the newly formed island. Not only that, but Epic Games has also revealed a new selection of weapons and POIs for players to enjoy.

With all of this new content to experience, players are puzzled as to why they need to submit their age in order to access it.

Why is Fortnite Asking for My Birthday

The reason that Fortnite is asking for your birthday is to make sure that younger players can experience an appropriately suited environment whenever they play the game. In a blog post by the Fortnite Team, they announced that they'd be rolling out Cabined Accounts. These accounts will be given to the younger players and require a parent or guardian's email address to be submitted.

Once the Cabined Accounts are good to go, parents can decide whether or not certain features of the game can be accessible for their kids. It's important to note that receiving a Cabined Account does not result in losing any purchased content or progression. It's merely a safety precaution that offers parents a way to filter out any content that they do not deem suitable for their kids. Once the desired parental settings are inputted, your account will no longer be a Cabined Account.
