Every Day We Fight: Leo build guide

Learn how to use Leo effectively in EDWF.
Signal Space Lab / Hooded Horse

Leo is the Thorns’ designated support character and so the best Leo build in Every Day We Fight is all about boosting his fellow resistance fighters.

As you level up your characters in the roguelite turn-based tactics title, you can use Skill Points to unlock their abilities. Each Thorn has three trees you can invest in, all of them providing their own skills and benefits. Although you’ll eventually get enough XP to unlock pretty much all you need – though never everything, as some skills block others from being taken – it’ll take a while to get there, so having an unlock priority in mind is a good way to get started.

You can also refund your Skill Points and reassign them whenever you like, so experimenting is very much possible and recommended. This beginner’s guide will show you how to build Leo as a support character.

Skill priorities for Leo in EDWF

Leo’s key skill to unlock is Donate. It allows him to transfer some of his Action Points (AP) to an ally regardless of line-of-sight or proximity, which is very powerful. If you need a healer, getting Enabling Healer and Reap the Benefits should be next on your agenda, as it restores HP to the target and makes the move cheaper, allowing Leo to retain more AP.

Otherwise, we’d suggest taking Damage Control and Giving Nature as a high priority. The first provides Donate’s target with a damage buff and the second boosts the amount of AP given by Donate. Allowing allies to attack more often and with extra damage is very useful.

While Leo’s Covering Fire can be a strong Reflex Action, we’ve found that bolstering his Overwatch via the third pillar is a bit more useful. Get Health Insurance for extra HP, then move on to Eagle-Eyed and Stay on Target for cheaper and longer Overwatch.

Best weapon for Leo in EDWF

This playstyle doesn’t require a specific weapon to work, but we’d recommend the Hailstorm for Leo. It consumes the least amount of AP thanks to its large magazines making reloading not as frequent and provides a good compromise between range and damage for Overwatch. With Leo donating a lot of his AP to allies, he’ll naturally have a bit less to work with of his own.
