Every Day We Fight: Vivian build guide

Learn how to use Vivian effectively in EDWF.
Signal Space Lab / Hooded Horse

Vivian is the Thorns’ literal thorn and the best Vivian build in Every Day We Fight revolves around dealing massive damage to the enemy.

As you improve your characters in the roguelite turn-based tactics game, you can consume Skill Points to unlock their unique abilities. Each Thorn has three groups you can invest in, all of them providing their own skills and boons. Although you’ll eventually get enough XP to unlock pretty much all you’d want – though never everything, as some abilities block others from being taken – it’ll take a while to get there, so having an unlock priority in mind is a good way to get started.

You can also refund your Skill Points and reassign them whenever you wish, so experimenting is both possible and recommended. This beginner’s guide will show you how to build Vivian as a damage dealer.

Skill priorities for Vivian in EDWF

Vivian is a great allrounder, but her strengths are definitely in the offense. Kill Assist is the main tool for that. It allows Vivian to take a Reflex Action when allies bring enemies to a certain HP threshold, enabling her to finish them off. This saves both characters some AP and gets a foe off the board immediately, preventing them from potentially reaching cover that saves their life.

We’d recommend getting Refiller Killer and Assisted Boost next. The first gives Vivian a free reload when killing an enemy with her Reflex Action, which is especially strong when using the Longhaul or the Rattler. Assisted Boost buffs Vivian’s own damage and stacks with the bonuses that Leo can provide, allowing you to bolster her DPS immensely.

Vivian’s central pillar is incredible as well. Take Hologram and then move on to Combustive Decoy and Decoys A-Plenty. This enables Vivian to place a Hologram on the field, diverting enemy fire until it’s destroyed — and when it does go down, it’ll ignite the oil it spread around itself on the ground. You’ll basically want to use this skill as you’d use a frag grenade, but it comes with the benefit of enemies not thinking about evading. This is a fantastic option for controlling choke points. Decoys A-Plenty reduces its cooldown, ensuring you can use it as often as possible.

In the third branch, you can greatly enhance Vivian’s toughness by getting Health Insurance, Protective Layer, and Shattered Benefits. The first two provide more HP and a shield that regenerates, while the third skill is yet another damage buff for Vivian, which triggers on her shield getting shattered.

Best weapon for Vivian in EDWF

Vivian’s kit makes her a perfect wielder of the Longhaul. Its high damage and range makes it very well suited for finishing off targets with its chief weakness – high AP use due to frequent reloading – being taken out of the equation thanks to Vivian’s Refiller Killer. With all the buffs Vivian can get, the Longhaul’s base damage can be increased so much that you’ll have the opportunity to take out even elite enemies with very few shots.
