Wuthering Waves – Galbrena build and materials guide

Corner your prey with the best Wuthering Waves Galbrena build and make the decisive shot. Galbrena is a 5-Star Resonator dealing Fusion DMG and wielding Pistols, filling the role of Main DPS on your team alongside her Tacet Discord companion, Chimera.

At the beginning of combat, Galbrena is in the Threshold State, which allows her to accumulate two resources: Afterflame and Sinflame. She can hold up to 40 Afterflame and recovers it when allies use Echo Skills. She can hold up to 100 Sinflame and recovers it through Basic, Heavy, and Mid-air Attacks, Resonance Skill, and Intro Skill.

When Galbrena reaches 100 Sinflame, she unlocks an alternate Resonance Skill that pushes her into the Demon Hypostasis state and converts all Sinflame into Purging Flame. During the Demon Hypostasis, Galbrena gains a different set of Basic, Heavy, and Mid-air Attacks as well as Resonance Skill, which consume Purging Flame and deal extra Fusion DMG. 

Most of Galbrena’s moves count as Heavy Attack DMG with the final hits of her Basic Attack combination counting as Echo Skill DMG. During Demon Hypostasis, the final hit of her Heavy Attack also counts as Echo Skill DMG.

Demon Hypostasis also allows her to enter Hellstride, causing her to dodge incoming attacks and deal damage in return while she’s casting skills. Using skills during Demon Hypostasis increases Galbrena’s Interruption RES and ATK.

Each point of Afterflame increases the damage dealt by abilities specific to Demon Hypostasis and the counter of this resource is reset whenever the state ends — this is the case after 50s or when all points of Purging Flame have been consumed.

Galbrena’s Resonance Liberation provides a further temporary damage boost to all of Demon Hypostasis’ abilities on top of dealing Fusion DMG.

Galbrena can also debuff targets to take more damage from her attacks and recover Stamina by using certain attacks.

Her Resonance Chain is mostly focused on maximizing her own damage output, though Node 4 provides a teamwide All-Attribute DMG boost whenever an ally casts an Echo Skill.

Galbrena’s signature weapon, Lux & Umbra, increases both her ATK and CRIT DMG. After the wearer deals Echo Skill DMG, they also gain a boost to Heavy Attack DMG and vice versa, so the Pistols strengthen both of Galbrena’s main damage sources. When both of these effects are active at the same time, all of the wearer’s damage partially ignores enemy DEF.

Best Galbrena Echoes – Wuthering Waves

The Flamewing’s Shadow Sonata Effect increases the wearer’s Heavy Attack CRIT Rate after they’ve dealt Echo Skill DMG and vice versa. Since Galbrena consistently deals both types of damage, she can keep these buffs running pretty much permanently, gaining additional Fusion DMG as a result. Speaking of which: Her secondary set – Molten Rift or Flaming Clawprint – provides more of that.

Galbrena doesn’t have a fantastic selection of 4 Cost Echoes, so you should opt for the 3 Cost Echo Corrosaurus as her Main Echo, since it provides extra Fusion DMG and Echo Skill DMG.

Best Galbrena teams – Wuthering Waves

Galbrena shines as a Main DPS in both mixed and Mono-Fusion compositions. Allies requiring little field time are best, since Galbrena ideally spends most of her time in combat.

• Galbrena (Main DPS), Lupa (Sub DPS), Brant (Support)

Lupa is an excellent Sub DPS for Galbrena thanks to the hefty boosts to Fusion DMG she brings into the equation. Brant also provides Fusion DMG Amplification and heals the team. If you don’t need any healing, you can swap him out for Mortefi or Changli.

• Galbrena (Main DPS), Iuno (Sub DPS), Shorekeeper (Support)

Moving away from Mono-Fusion compositions, Iuno is a fantastic Sub DPS for Galbrena as well thanks to the Heavy Attack DMG boost her Outro Skill provides. Shorekeeper, as usual, bolsters the team in several ways and keeps it healthy.

That said, upcoming character Qiuyuan will be Galbrena’s best teammate, so anyone looking to maximize her potential should keep an eye out for him as well, teaming the duo up with Lupa or Shorekeeper.

Once Galbrena has joined your team, you’ll want to level her up as quickly as possible, for which you’ll require the following materials:

Tidal Residuum drops from many of the Tacet Discords roaming the map and can be gained in Forgery Challenges. Blighted Crown of Puppet King comes from defeating the False Sovereign and Stone Roses are a local specialty available in Septimont. The best source of Shell Credits are the Simulation Challenges you can tackle at the Training Grounds.
