Zenless Zone Zero – Yixuan build and promotion guide
By Marco Wutz

Bear the title of Grandmaster with the best Zenless Zone Zero Yixuan build and show yourself worthy of being likened to a Void Hunter. Yixuan is a special ZZZ character: She’s the first ever Rupture Agent and – similar to Miyabi – fields a unique DMG Type called Auric Ink, a variation of Ether DMG.
Table of Contents
Yixuan does not possess Energy and instead uses Adrenaline to unlock stronger versions of her abilities, such as EX Special Attacks. Consuming Adrenaline also builds up Technique Points for her, which are used to power her second Ultimate.
Being a Rupture Agent, Yixuan also commands Sheer Force (a stat that increases with her Max HP) and Sheer DMG. Sheer DMG ignores enemy DEF and is multiplied by Sheer Force. Every instance of Auric Ink DMG additionally inflicts Sheer DMG. Similar to Miyabi’s Frost DMG, Auric Ink DMG has a separate Anomaly Buildup gauge from Ether DMG. Triggering an Anomaly nets Yixuan extra Adrenaline.
- Role: Rupture
- Damage Type: Ether (Auric Ink)
- Faction: Yunkui Summit
- Rarity: S-Rank
You’ll want to use Yixuan’s Basic Attack to build up Adrenaline and consume it to activate EX Special Attacks, which all deal lots of Auric Ink DMG.
Yixuan’s Special Attack allows her to dodge, as it causes her to retreat a couple of steps, while the EX Special Attack can be charged up. Any enemy hits during charge-up are negated and cause a counter-attack. If an enemy hits Yixuan at the exact moment the charge-up is complete, she executes a Perfect Block, recovering Adrenaline and allowing her to chain additional moves.
An alternative EX Special Attack – activated by holding Basic Attack with enough Adrenaline – deals damage over time to nearby enemies while being charged up. Yixuan can make a Perfect Dodge on activation to enter Vital View when the charge-up is complete. Whether it’s charged completely or interrupted, she’ll deal Auric Ink DMG at the end.
Yixuan has a regular Ultimate that can be activated when she has enough Decibels and deals Auric Ink DMG. It also redistributes the squad’s current HP evenly between all Agents. When Yixuan has enough Technique Points in addition to Decibels, she can consume the Technique Points to access a different Ultimate, which deals less Auric Ink DMG, but creates an Auric Ink Point. Since the second Ultimate doesn’t consume Decibels, you can use both in succession.
Auric Ink Points can be used to activate the powerful Basic Attack: Auric Array, which creates a whirling pool of ink that sucks enemies into it and continuously deals Auric Ink DMG to them, all while Yixuan is invulnerable.
Yixuan’s teamwork ability is triggered by at least one Stun, Support, or Defense Agent being on her team. It recovers Adrenaline for her whenever a team member casts an Ultimate and allows Yixuan to make an extra attack while she’s being swapped off the field with a Perfect Assist. Her EX Special Attacks also deal additional damage to stunned enemies and her Ultimate increases her CRIT DMG temporarily.
Yixuan’s Mindscape Cinema, which can be leveled up by pulling duplicates of her, has the following effects:
Level | Effects |
---|---|
1 | - Yixuan gains +10% CRIT Rate and 120 TP when entering combat (once every 180s in Investigation Zone Mode). |
2 | - Yixuan’s Ultimate and EX Special Attack ignore 15% Ether RES. |
3 | - Increases Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack level by 2. |
4 | - Yixuan gains Tranquility after using an Ultimate (up to 2 stacks); each stack boosts EX Special Attack: Cloud-Shaper and EX Special Attack: Ashen Ink Becomes Shadows DMG by 30%. |
5 | - Increases Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack level by 2. |
6 | - Yixuan gains Regulated Breathing after using Ultimate: Qingming Skyshade; while this effect is active, she ignores TP cost of Ultimate: Endless Talisman Suppression once (can be gained every 30s). |
ZZZ – Yixuan: best W-Engines
Yixuan’s main strength is her Sheer DMG, which is increased by her Max HP. Her signature W-Engine, Qingming Birdcage, comes with a generous HP boost and provides CRIT Rate. Additionally, the weapon increases Ether Sheer DMG (counting as Auric Ink Sheer DMG for Yixuan) temporarily following an EX Special Attack — an effect that can stack two times.
Best W-Engines for Yixuan in ZZZ:
- Qingming Birdcage (S-Rank)
- Radiowave Journey (A-Rank)
- Puzzle Sphere (A-Rank)
- [Cinder] Cobalt (B-Rank)
ZZZ – Yixuan: best Drive Discs
Alongside HP, Yixuan desires more CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG to maximize her damage. ATK is merely a filler stat for her, but will ultimately pad out her overall damage output. There is no need for any Energy Regeneration, since Yixuan doesn’t use this resource, and Anomaly DMG is only secondary as well.
Best Drive Disc sets for Yixuan in ZZZ:
- Yunkui Tales (4) + Branch & Blade Song (2) – +10% HP, +4% CRIT Rate when using EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, or Ultimate for 15s (stacking up to 3 times), +10% Sheer Force when all 3 stacks of this effect are active, +16% CRIT DMG.
Best Drive Disc stats for Yixuan in ZZZ:
- Partition 1 – HP (Primary), CRIT DMG, CRIT Rate, HP %, ATK %
- Partition 2 – ATK (Primary), CRIT DMG, CRIT Rate, HP %, ATK %

ZZZ – Yixuan: best teams
Yixuan is a powerful on-field Main DPS and therefore wants to spend most of her time fighting, though frequent rotations are good to increase her Adrenaline regeneration.
- Yixuan (Main DPS), Vivian (Sub DPS), Pan Yinhu (Support)
- Bangboo: Belion / Robin
Yixuan is this comp's main source of damage and spends most of her time in the field. Vivian is an excellent Sub DPS for her, as she doesn’t need a lot of field time and Yixuan’s frequent EX Special Attacks can reliably trigger Abloom. Pan Yinhu has been designed to support Rupture Agents and is therefore a strong option for Yixuan: He facilitates rotations, provides moderate healing, and increases incoming Agents’ Sheer Force.
Astra Yao – as usual – is a strong alternative Support for this team. Support Agents like Nicole, Lucy, and Rina can certainly contribute to the team as well, while Caesar is a solid option if you need more protection.
ZZZ – Yixuan: promotion materials
After obtaining Yixuan, you’ll want to level her up as quickly as possible to make use of her talents in combat. Here are the materials required to upgrade her to Level 60:
- Basic Rupture Certification Seal x4
- Advanced Rupture Certification Seal x32
- Arbiter Certification Seal x30
- Dennies x800,000
You can obtain Certification Seals from the VR Combat Simulation. Advanced materials may be crafted using lower-level materials as well. Dennies can be earned in the VR Combat Simulation as well as through operating the Random Play video store.
Leveling Yixuan up is only half the game, though — you’ll want to upgrade all of her skills as well to get the most out of her performance in battle. Here are the materials required to max out her Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack — we’re giving you the total you need, so just divide everything by five to get the materials needed for a single skill:
- Basic Ether Chip x25
- Advanced Ether Chip x75
- Specialized Ether Chip x250
- Hamster Cage Pass x5
- Dennies x2,500,000
Chips can be farmed in the VR Combat Simulation with Advanced and Specialized Chips also being available through crafting. Hamster Cage Passes are a rare material that can be grabbed from time-limited events as well as the New Eridu City Fund.
Finally, you can upgrade her Core Skill six times to make Yixuan stronger, for which you need the following materials:
- Higher Dimensional Data: Miasmic Elytron x60
- Exuvia of Refinement x9
- Dennies x405,000
Higher Dimensional Data: Miasmic Elytron will be available from the Expert Challenge: Miasma Ravager – Avarus, while Exuvia of Refinement must be acquired through Notorious Hunt: Miasma Priest.
