Battlefield 6 won’t require the EA App to play on Steam

Battlefield 6 won’t contribute to launcher bloat on PC, at least if you’re playing it on Steam. EA has confirmed that BF6 won’t require the EA App when it’s being launched via Steam, although players will still have to log in with an EA account. Players purchasing the game on Epic Game Store will have to use the EA App to launch the game in addition to needing an EA account.
EA hasn’t communicated any official system requirements as of yet, but stated that its “goal is to have the game perform well across a solid spectrum of hardware.” The PC version of the game will support both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S controllers.
Similar to the lack of Nintendo Switch 2 plans, EA is currently not working to support the game on Steam Deck.
The game’s console versions will support quality and performance modes, while PS5 Pro users can look forward to some enhanced visuals compared to what’s available on the regular version of Sony’s console.
BF6 is set to launch in October 2025 with two beta weekends happening in August. Alongside more consistent destruction, EA promised that BF6 won’t feature goofy skins breaking players’ immersion.
