Genshin Impact 5.8 release date, events, and features announced

Genshin Impact 5.8, Sunspray Summer Resort, has been officially announced by HoYoverse — and as the title implies, it’s the annual summer event patch.

But let that not mislead you: The introduction of new character Ineffa brings lots of mystery and lore for Nod-Krai, the upcoming region we’ll head to in Version 6.0. There will be moon lore, the mention of a certain Fatui Harbinger, and more alongside the lighthearted summer event, which itself finally gets us a look at the Mare Jivari, one of the big mysteries from the very early days of the game. It's all coming together!

Genshin Impact 5.8 is set to arrive on June 30, 2025, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, and Android.

Genshin Impact 5.8 story & characters

The first character hailing from Nod-Krai, Ineffa, will be featured on the Genshin Impact 5.8 banners alongside reruns from Natlan. Ineffa is a robot created by Aino, a genius technician, and is looking for the Traveler and Paimon. For what purpose? We’ll have to find out in the Archon Quest Song of the Welkin Moon Prelude: The Journey Home.

This year’s summer event adds a permanent storyline to the game, Sunspray Summer Resort: Easybreeze Trip. Unlike previous summer events, it won’t be limited to a single version. During the story, the Traveler will be asked to check out Natlan’s new beach resort, where old and very old friends will be waiting. There’s also Mare Jivari lore – and, yes, it seems to be connected to Bennett, and a fight with a creation of Rhinedottir to be had. More areas of the Mare Jivari will become accessible in future versions.

Genshin Impact 5.8 events

The following minigames will be available during Genshin Impact 5.8 as part of the time-limited Sunspray Summer Resort event:

• Travels Are Fuller With Friends – physics-based 2D platforming game
• Strikers Through the Storm – sharpshooting game
• With Flying (Graffitti) Colors – Splatoon-inspired spraypainting game
• A Feat for the Senses – combat event with rhythm game elements

Rewards include a skin for Bennett, an event-exclusive 4-Star Claymore, and Primogems.

The following additional events will be available during Genshin Impact 5.8:

• Tracing Vanishing Trails – Investigation event with Yelan; rewards include Primogems.
• Mementos of Teyvat: Prelude of the Frozen Veil – photography event; rewards include Primogems.
• Natlan: Plains of Flowing Flames – new content and instrument for Repertoire of Myriad Melodies; rewards include Primogems.
• Ley Line Overflow – double drops from Ley Line Blossoms.

Genshin Impact 5.8 maps & features

This year’s summer event won’t feature a temporary map available only for a limited time, but will take place in a new area of Natlan, which will remain accessible permanently.

Bennett isn’t the only character receiving a new outfit: Yelan is getting a skin as well, which can be purchased in the in-game store.

Version 5.8 will feature the introduction of the Lunar-Charged reaction, a brand-new reaction between Hydro and Electro that increases the entire team’s damage and can land critical hits. Lunar reactions will be a key feature of the Nod-Krai roster.

Among the quality-of-life improvements planned for this version is the introduction of a one-click time skip feature.

Updates for Genius Invokation TCG will be available as well, including additional cards and lots of new opponents in the open world — that’s right, the people of Natlan have discovered the joy of card games.
