HoYoverse reveals Alice, Durin, Flins, and more characters from Song of the Welkin Moon
By Marco Wutz

HoYoverse has amped up the hype meter for Genshin Impact: Song of the Welkin Moon once again, this time by revealing the principal characters of the upcoming story arc. In the “Moonlit Ballad of the Night” trailer, we are getting a very good look at the designs of all the characters, including long-awaited figures such as Alice, Varka, Durin, and Columbina.
Some familiar faces appear as well, though: Albedo is seemingly coming to Nod-Krai with Alice and none other than Wanderer – the former Fatui Harbinger Scaramouche – has accompanied them. With all the current Harbingers gathering in Nod-Krai, it looks like Wanderer is taking this chance to try and get his revenge on them. The devs said that Nod-Krai would be the stage on which some loose ends would be tied up and Wanderer’s arc looks to be one of them.
Here’s a full list of characters appearing in the video (and their elements, as far they can be spotted/are known):
- Nicole Reeyn alias N
- Aino
- Varka – Anemo
- Jahoda
- Ineffa – Electro
- Durin – Pyro
- Sandrone alias Marionette
- Lauma
- Nefer – Dendro
- Kyryll Chudomirovich Flins – Electro
- Columbina alias Moon Maiden
- Alice alias A – Pyro
- Albedo – Geo
- Wanderer – Anemo
There is a lot to unpack with this one. One thing to note right away is that the trailer’s description calls Sandrone a Fatui Harbinger, but only refers to Columbina as the Moon Maiden — we know that the Harbingers are looking for her, so this might be confirmation that she turned her back on them somehow.
Nicole and Alice we are familiar with as members of the Hexenzirkel, of course. As to why they are around? Fans have already translated the letter Alice receives in the trailer, which mentions the names of the Three Moon Sisters. Varka, the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, says outright that he’s there for the moon and Columbina mentions that a veil of lies is about to come down. It looks like several factions are vying to expose the false sky (and false moon) of Teyvat.
Nicole Reeyn
Nicole is a powerful witch and shown to have wings in the trailer.
Aino
Aino is a member of the Clink-Clank Krumkake Craftshop in Nod-Krai and the designer of Ineffa.
Varka
Varka is the Favonius Order’s Grand Master and has been on this mission since Version 1.0.
Jahoda
Jahoda is an unknown variable at this point — aside from her design making her look like she’s also associated with Clink-Clank Krumkake Craftshop, we know nothing about her.
Durin
Durin is the cursed dragon artificially created by Rhinedottir, one of the Five Sinners, member of the Hexenzirkel, and devourer of Naberius, the Shade of Life. Slain by Dvalin, his corpse formed Dragonspine. He’s deeply connected to Mondstadt’s history and is essentially a sibling to Albedo due to their shared origin as Rhinedottir’s creations.
Sandrone
Sandrone alias Marionette is No. 7 of the Fatui Harbingers and known for her obsession with machines and automatons. It seems like she’s been tasked with fighting the Frostmoon Scions, who are resisting the Fatui’s occupation of Nod-Krai.
Lauma
Lauma is a priestess associated with the Frostmoon Scions, as her previous teaser has shown. She appears to be deeply connected to the lands of Nod-Krai and the old moon powers.
Nefer
Nefer is another blank page, although her design – and her Dendro Vision – might point to her origin lying in Sumeru. Her name also refers to an ancient Egyptian queen, which would boost the Sumeru connection. She appears to be a storyteller — but there’s surely more to that.
Flins
Kyryll Chudomirovich Flins joins Jahoda and Nefer among the unknowns. His name suggests that he’s from Snezhnaya and the lantern he holds is somewhat similar to the ones used by Fatui Electro Operatives. Whether he’s some sort of exorcist, grave robber, or archaeologist, he’s only shown at a graveyard in the trailer.
Columbina
Columbina alias Damselette is No. 3 of the Fatui Harbingers, but HoYoverse clearly wants to separate her from that identity by calling her the Moon Maiden. Did she betray the Fatui? Did they betray her? Is she some sort of double agent executing the Tsaritsa’s plans? And how is she connected to the Moon Sisters? Clearly, she’s one of the most central characters.
Alice
Alice alias A is a leading member of the Hexenzirkel, the mother of Klee, and one of the most powerful beings that we know of in Teyvat. If she’s getting involved in the Nod-Krai affair, it’s a sure sign for important stuff going down.
Genshin Impact: Song of the Welkin Moon kicks off with Version 6.0 of the game later this year. The story arc's prologue is set to debut in Genshin Impact 5.8, however, so in just a week's time.
