HoYoverse’s next game will be the first to come to Nintendo’s console family.

Following global trademark applications and release clearance from Chinese authorities in 2024, Petit Planet is widely assumed to be the next game from HoYoverse to be released. While any details around the project are still scarce aside from general descriptions that make it out to be HoYoverse’s take on the cozy life sim genre – think Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, and the like – sources with knowledge of the project have told DBLTAP that Petit Planet is being developed for Nintendo Switch.

They couldn’t outright confirm whether the studio is targeting a launch on the original console, its successor, or both, but deemed it more likely that Petit Planet is coming to Switch 2 alongside PC, iOS, and Android.

With the Switch version of Genshin Impact, which was announced years ago, being presumed dead due to HoYoverse’s persistent silence around the project, Petit Planet will be the first title from the Chinese developer to be available on a Nintendo console, barring any surprises. The fact that support for Genshin Impact on PS4 will end in 2026 and HoYoverse didn’t even bring Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero to older consoles shows that the company’s focus is squarely set on the latest hardware.

HoYoverse has been actively looking to expand its target audience and a Switch 2 release would make a lot of sense for the type of game Petit Planet is supposed to be.

While HoYoverse didn’t have major announcements to share at Gamescom 2025, there will be news from the studio later this year – possibly as early as around Tokyo Game Show in September – which will include Petit Planet's official reveal.

Petit Planet is not the only game currently in the oven at HoYoverse — earlier this year, Honkai: Nexus Anima was trademarked and then teased at Honkai: Star Rail’s anniversary concert. Additional information on this project is expected to be revealed before the year is out as well.
