Umamusume’s Gold Ship Discord bot shut down after behaving too much like Gold Ship

Cygames has officially kicked off Golshi Week in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Celebrating the life and career of infamous race horse Gold Ship, the event runs until August 22, 2025, and brings a plethora of in-game rewards as well as the Golshi Mode difficulty setting to players.

As part of the celebrations, Cygames intended to run a Gold Ship bot on its official Discord. The intention was to have the bot answer with quotes by Gold Ship from across the franchise, but in perfectly typical Gold Ship fashion things went a bit haywire and the bot didn’t work as planned.

The irony of a bot modeled after Gold Ship, who is infamous for causing chaos in real life and Umamusume (by refusing to be trained, among other things), not working correctly – and therefore behaving exactly like its inspiration – was not lost on the community, which probably had more fun with this development than it would’ve had with the functional bot.

The shenanigans have also provided the community with some much-needed smiles and positivity, as fans worldwide are mourning the death of one of the animals represented in Umamusume: Grass Wonder has passed away because of old age, having reached 30 years — a ripe old age for a race horse.
