Wargaming is the next developer to confirm attending Gamescom 2025 — and it looks like the studio behind World of Tanks and World of Warships is planning for a big comeback, as it has popular Swedish power metal band Sabaton in tow for a concert on the showfloor.

Sabaton’s appearance is scheduled for August 21, 2025, and will be accessible by anyone with a regular ticket to the convention — no extras necessary. Wargaming and Sabaton are familiar partners, having worked together on several past occasions for songs and music videos.

At Gamescom 2025, the band will drum up hype for the developer’s classic catalog as well as the brand-new Steel Hunters, a free-to-play mecha extraction shooter that’ll be playable at the event.

“Guess who’s playing at gamescom 2025? We are,” the band posted. “Our buddies at Wargaming are rolling into gamescom 2025 with tanks, ships, hunters and five Swedish metalheads for the PLAY BIG experience you’ve all been waiting for. We are beyond honoured to be their special guests and can’t wait to put on a show to remember! Mark your calendars — August 21. See ya there, gamers! It’s gonna be fun.”

On August 22, 2025, Wargaming furthermore invites players to an exclusive afterparty, for which anyone interested in attending will need extra tickets — but the studio wants to give them out for free.

Wargaming used to be a big presence at the exhibition before the COVID-19 pandemic, but has not shown equal engagement ever since, so this marks the return of a familiar face for visitors.

Gamescom 2025 is set to take place from August 20 to 24, 2025, in Cologne, Germany. Along with Wargaming, Nintendo and Ubisoft have already confirmed their attendance.
