Our Warzone SMG tier list for September 2021 is here to break down which guns are the best to use in Verdansk '84 and Rebirth Island with the release of the Season 5 Reloaded mid-season update on the horizon.

Although Raven Software has continued to release patch after patch in recent days, including the highly-debated stealth Modern Warfare MP5 10mm buff, the SMG meta has remained fairly stable in Season 5. Here are the best SMGs to use in Call of Duty: Warzone in September 2021.

Warzone SMG Tier List September 2021

S Tier

  • OTs 9
  • MAC-10

In terms of serving the traditional SMG role, the OTs 9 and the MAC-10 are players' best bets at this point, with their handling and TTKs remaining the most superior of the bunch. The OTs 9 is primed to take over the Season 5 meta. Although it isn't that popular yet with the more casual player base according to WZ Ranked, it is already a staple pick in the competitive Warzone scene. Despite having a maximum of only 40 bullets with the highest capacity ammunition attachment on, its sheer damage output and swift handling package is unmatched up close, especially after the MP5 (MW) nerf.

A Tier

In A Tier are four SMGs that are quite good up close, but generally won't outpace the aforementioned S Tier options. The Black Ops Cold War MP5 isn't what it once was, but will still be able to get the job done along with the TEC-9 and Bullfrog. Meanwhile, the stealth 10mm buff MP5 (MW) simply isn't viable for most outside of solos, keeping the base gun an underwhelming pick. Lastly, in terms of a Sniper Support option other than the EM2, the Milano 821 is the best route with the RAM-7, FARA 83, FFAR 1 and AK-47 (CW) simply not being able to compete up close anymore.

B Tier

In the B Tier are 11 SMGs that are viable, and could even become niche, hidden gems for certain players. However, these options are all pretty similar to each other at the end of the day, and just aren't quite as good as the more meta options.

C Tier

  • Nail Gun
  • Striker 45
  • LC10

Lastly, in C Tier are three SMGs that have fallen behind in the pack with the way things have settled down. The Nail Gun was essentially replaced by the OTs 9, the LC10 took major nerfs to its maximum damage, minimum damage and headshot multiplier values, while the Striker 45 has just remained an afterthought by the dev team it seems.
