Where to Find the Best Weapons in Elden Ring

Elden Ring is absolutely lousy with great weapons. The game offers everything from the tiny to the colossal, with daggers that can hold their own against the biggest greatsword, and halberds that can go toe to toe with any katana. Here's where to find some of the best weapons in the game.

Dark Moon Greatsword AKA Moonlight Greatsword

The Dark Moon Greatsword is Elden Ring's take on the Moonlight Greatsword, an intimidating and gorgeous weapon that's appeared in almost every game in the Soulsborne line. To get the weapon, you'll need to complete Ranni's quest line — and that's no easy feat. The final step is use Dark Moon Ring on Ranni's body, which can be found in a pit below the Cathedral of Manus Cele. When you do, Ranni will appear and thank you for your help, leaving the sword behind.

Moonveil

Moonveil is a unique Katana forged of glintstone. Despite a nerf in Elden Ring Patch 1.03, it remains one of the most powerful — and stylish — weapons in Elden Ring, particularly for players splitting their stats between Dexterity and Intelligence. Its unique skill, Transient Moonlight, may not deal as much posture damage as it used to, but it remains a lightning quick, highly damaging attack with excellent range.

To get it, you'll need to kill the Magma Wyrm in Gael Tunnel – Caelid.

The Sword of Night and Flame

Players identified the Sword of Night and Flame early on as one of the best weapons available for playing looking to build a primarily magic-based character. It scales best with Intelligence and Faith, and offers a devastating Weapon Art even after Elden Ring Patch 1.03 nerfed its damage output significantly.

You can get the Sword of Night and Flame in Caria Manor with a little careful platforming.

Bloodhound's Fang

Bloodhound's Fang is a Curved Greatsword you can find relatively early on in Elden Ring, and good thing, too. Its Weapon Art makes it a great pick for dealing safe damage, taking a powerful swipe before launch the user backward to safety. You'll pick it up after killing Bloodhound Knight Darriwil in Limgrave. Stats:

Nagakiba

The Nagakiba is one of the strongest katanas in Elden Ring, inflicting plenty of Blood Loss and offering greater range than most of the other options in its weapon class. Once you have it, you can even throw an Ash of War on it to give it the style of damage you're looking for.

To get it, you'll need to either kill Bloody Finger Hunt Yura or complete his quest line. See our guide here for help with the latter, and stats below.

Greatsword

The Greatsword is a fan-favorite weapon for the inspirations behind its design. The Colossal Sword draws from "Berserk," a manga that has served as a career-long inspiration for Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. The sword itself shares a design with that wielded by the main character of "Berserk," Guts. The Greatsword is also one of the strongest Strength-scaling swords in the game, and not too difficult to retrieve.

A quick trip over to the Caelem Ruins Site of Grace and you should be able to grab it from the caravan of enemies rolling by.

Bloody Helice

Bloody Helice is a powerful Heavy Thrusting Sword, and now that Elden Ring Patch 1.03 has gone live, its Arcane scaling makes it a phenomenal option for Arcane users looking to inflict maximal bleed damage. Its unique skill, Dynast's Finesse, has a built-in dodge that can prove useful.

You'll find the Bloody Helice in the Writheblood Ruins in Altus Plateau.

Reduvia

Reduvia may be the single best dagger in Elden Ring, singlehandedly raising its weapon class out of irrelevance. Although the blade itself has a tiny range, its unique skill allows it to launch shards of blade that cause Blood Loss buildup. Arcane users in particular can make Reduvia sing.

Players can get it early on in Elden Ring by heading to Murkwater Cave and killing Bloody Finger Nerijus — an essential step in Bloody Finger Hunter Yura's quest line.

The Godslayer's Greatsword is another Colossal Sword, but its great strength comes in the form of its black fire attacks. The Queen's Black Flame attack may be slow in its startup, but landing the hit will eat away at the victim's HP for a decent amount of time. Plus, it's hard to argue with a giant sword covered in black flames.

You'll pick up the Godslayer's Greatsword after killing the Godskin Apostle in the basement of the Divine Tower of Caelid.

The Meteoric Ore Blade is a powerful katana that uses gravity magic to pull in enemies with its unique skill. It's a great option for players looking to run Strength and Intelligence, and it boasts a unique appearance.

To get it, you'll have to make your way through the Caelid Waypoint Ruins. Be ready to cut through a legion of Prawn Miners.

Banished Knight's Halberd

The Banished Knight's Halberd shines because of its fantastic range. It can also be infused with any Ash of War your heart desires, making it a versatile and customizable weapon. You can pick one up by farming Banished Knight enemies, or by killing Edgar the Revenger at the Revenger's Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes. Edgar's comes pre-upgraded to +8.
