Genshin Impact has more than 300 million players worldwide — that staggering number has been revealed at an anime industry-related event in Shanghai, where developer HoYoverse maintains its home base.

Celebrating the city’s top anime IPs, the event lauded Genshin Impact for all the awards it has won across its lifetime and revealed some demographics related to the game. According to the translation by Chibipiyo, the game’s main demographic is aged between 18 and 30 — around 70% of the player base is found in this age bracket. Half of the game’s users come from China.

Genshin Impact currently has a 60:40 ratio between male and female players, though the event noted that its share of female players is continuing to grow.

Being a business event, the presentation emphasized the fact that Genshin Impact has been able to penetrate population segments unreached by other games of its type and has bound users with higher disposable income than average. The title’s strong engagement and growth potential are highlighted as well.

It’s fairly rare to get information like this about HoYoverse games, since the company doesn’t have to satisfy any shareholders with public reports.

Genshin Impact 5.8 is set to launch next week with Ineffa on the first-half banners. HoYoverse will also be at Gamescom 2025 in August, once again hoping to leave its mark on the massive exhibition.
