On Nov.7, 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment are developing a live-action Zelda movie. According to the article, Wes Ball, known for directing the Maze Runner film trilogy (2014–2018) and the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024), will be in charge of the Zelda film.

Fans might have noticed a Twitter/X post about an upcoming Studio Ghibli-inspired poster of a Zelda movie. Unfortunately, this information is false.

The Studio Ghibli Legend of Zelda Movie isn't Real

The post was made by @ghiblipicture, a popular Twitter/X account. As much as fans may want to believe the news, it's an April Fools' joke. The poster also admits the prank in a thread, saying, "Bro come on, it's an April fools joke."

The talented artist behind the movie poster is Matt Vince, and he created it for fun in 2015.

The post has gotten thousands of retweets, likes, and bookmarks, but a Studio Ghibli Legend of Zelda movie isn't coming. Those looking to keep up with news about the live-action film should follow the official Nintendo Twitter/X account. There's no official release date for the movie yet.
