From the looks of things, it appears Warzone has caught on to the trend often seen in other major battle royale titles' season updates — when in doubt, destroy the map.

With Season Six's punch line being "The Final Showdown," it appears the stage has now been set in Verdansk '84 after some game-changing destruction has gone down. Here's a breakdown of the major map changes coming to Warzone as shown in the new Season 6 trailer.

Warzone Map Changes and New POIs Teased in Call of Duty Season 6 Trailer

The Season 6 trailer picks up right where last week's Season 5 Outro cinematic left off, with our heroes finding the compromised Adler due to Kitsune launching the Numbers brainwashing broadcast.

We see Stitch taking advantage of the opportunity to detonate several explosives underground, generating fissures that have reportedly cracked Stadium and Downtown wide open to reveal "strange and previously unknown WWII-era bunkers."

Meanwhile, Alex Mason makes his surprise Warzone debut, helping Adler break free from the brainwashing to march back on the surface to fight alongside Woods and the others.

As released in the new Season 6 roadmap, we also now know just exactly how much devastation has been done to Verdansk.

The Old Verdansk Stadium is now wrecked due to the man-made earthquake, which sent the cranes towering above down onto the construction zone and soccer pitch. Expect greater maneuverability across all levels of this location, including within the cracks of the earth.

Southwest of the Stadium, Downtown is a chaotic mess as buildings continue to topple into the fissure. Reports from the ground indicate a marquee Hotel and several buildings in the vicinity have been destroyed in the blasts. Expect less verticality in this notorious part of town, as well as some "additional areas" to explore.

Hidden beneath Verdansk '84's surface — long before the “original Verdansk bunkers” players may have explored previously — are an underground system of passageways and armaments rooms now available to those curious in Season 6. These old German war bunkers are said to have been barricaded off since the war’s end.

Season 6 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is set to kick off on Oct. 7, 2021.
