Is Warzone 2 a Separate Game?

With Warzone 2 being heralded as part of the "new era of Call of Duty," it's perhaps no surprise that many are wondering what games it will and will not be integrated with. Here's a breakdown of whether or not Warzone 2 will be a separate game.

Is Warzone 2 a Separate Game?
Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be a standalone, free-to-play game that includes the all-new DMZ experience and traditional battle royale modes.
In a similar fashion to its predecessor, however, Warzone 2 will also feature deep cross-progression with Modern Warfare II. During the current MW2 pre-season period, players can already rank up, unlock and upgrade weapons, complete challenges and collect cosmetics that will all carry over to Warzone 2 and DMZ. After all, Warzone 2 will drop on the same day as the launch of Modern Warfare 2 Season 1. At that point, players will also share Battle Pass progress across both Warzone 2 and MW2.
However, like MW2, Warzone 2 will be completely separate from the original Warzone, Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard. All cosmetics from Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard will not transfer over for use in the new battle royale.
In order to fully deliver this state-of-the-art experience, Warzone 2.0 will feature new Modern Warfare II content and systems with brand-new progression and inventories.

The original Warzone title and its servers will still remain live for the foreseeable future, meaning players' items and progression will still be there, but they will not crossover into the new Warzone experience in any way.
