Season 01 of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2 was announced in full by Activision Wednesday.

From the long-awaited launch of Warzone 2 and DMZ, to added MW2 features including a new Battle Pass system, Prestiging, hardcore Tier 1 multiplayer playlists, a CDL Moshpit multiplayer playlist, at least four new weapons and more, here's a breakdown of everything you need to know about the Call of Duty Season 1 roadmap.

Warzone 2, Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Roadmap Explained

Warzone 2

At long last, players will be able to hop in Warzone 2 and duke it out battle royale-style for free in the city of Al Mazrah within the United Republic of Adal.

Since its initial reveal during the Call of Duty: Next event in September, however, it appears Infinity Ward has made some major changes to Warzone 2. Loadouts will indeed be back in full for players to grab during Loadout Drop Public Events, as well as after clearing a Stronghold or a Black Site. in-match Cash can still only be used to purchase your Primary Weapon from created Loadouts though. Meanwhile, Supply Boxes will still throw out items to pick up, but any other loot container (e.g. duffel bag, medical case) will function with a new loot menu.

Aside from this, many of the same new features shown in its initial reveal will make their debuts in Season 1:

  • 2v2 Gulag
  • Strongholds and Black Sites
  • Randomized Multi-Circle Collapse
  • Proximity Chat
  • Assimilation: In squad-based DMZ modes, as well as special Battle Royale playlists, you have the choice to join up with enemy Operators and form a larger squad.
  • Interrogation: In squad-based modes, reveal enemy locations by successfully shaking down player-controlled enemies while they are downed.
  • Heavy Chopper and Hummer EV
  • Vehicle Fuel, Gas Station Mechanic
  • Aquatic Combat
  • Buy Station 2.0 interface
  • DMZ
  • Third-Person Playlists

For those curious about what's going to happen with the original Warzone, it will be going through an intermission. From Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. ET to Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. ET, the Warzone servers will be going down. Once it is relaunched, the game will be known as Warzone Caldera and feature "a standard Battle Royale Playlist." In addition to no longer having an in-game store, Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep will also not be available in Warzone Caldera.

Headlining the Season 1 content in Modern Warfare 2 are the additions of Shoot House (launch) and Shipment (midseason). While Ranked Play is said to be coming in a future season, those looking to use the Call of Duty League’s standard rules, restrictions, and map rotation can do so in the new CDL Moshpit Playlist. As promised, the hardcore-esque Tier 1 playlist will be available at the start of Season 1, as well as Combat Records. Lastly, the new High Ground Specials Ops Mission will be added at launch, while the first episode of Raids will be coming midseason.

Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2

Revealed to be coming to both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 in Season 1 are the new Battle Pass system, four new weapons and six Operators.

The new Season 1 Battle Pass will not have a linear stream of tiers set out in a scrolling row as COD players have seen in recent years. Instead, the new Battle Pass will take the form of a multi-Sector map. Each map has at least 20 Sectors with five items in each Sector, with players having the option to unlock items in the order that they want using earned Battle Token Tier Skips.

Coming to Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 at launch via the new Battle Pass are the Victus XMR sniper rifle and the BAS-P SMG. Meanwhile, the Chimera and M13B assault rifles will be able to had in store bundles and weapon unlock challenges released midway through Season 1.

For the Operators, Nigerian counterterrorist group founder Zeus can be unlocked at launch with a purchase of the Season 1 Battle Pass. Down the line, Danish Elite Special Forces soldier Klaus and Task Force 141’s Gaz will be featured in new bundles midseason.
