Our Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 assault rifle tier list is here to break down which of the guns are the best to use in CalderaFortune's Keep, and Rebirth Island with the launch of Raven Software's latest major balancing update.

With the Season 5 patch, not only did we get the all-new EX1 assault rifle and a handful of major changes to options in the weapon class, but the meta Vanguard Variable Scopes were nerfed hard as well. As such, here is a breakdown of how the assault rifles stack up in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5.

Warzone Season 5 Assault Rifle Rankings

S Tier

In the S Tier are 12 ARs that appear to be key parts of the meta right out of the gates in Season 5. After the nerfs to the KG M40, STG44, Cooper Carbine and SVT-40 PU Scope 3-6x optic, the Grau 5.56 has stolen the show early on. Right by its side as a main AR option, however, is the Automaton, which moves up the list by virtue of not being nerfed. For sniper support, look no further than the Volk, which should be a perfect option when paired with the newly buffed snipers. For now, the all-new EX1 laser rifle slots in here as well, so long as players are using the right barrel and aren't trying to beam others from extreme ranges. Meanwhile, the Nikita AVT, Kilo 141, M13 and Vargo 52 should remain to be solid options as well.

A Tier

Vargo-S

In A Tier are a wide variety of options that are top-tier viable and remain generally balanced to use in Warzone. Essentially, these ARs are sitting right outside of the main meta, but are still able to get the job done and allow you to be competitive. Out of the Vargo-S, BAR, and Groza, which all got buffed, the Vargo-S is the lone AR that has the potential to be noteworthy moving forward.

B Tier

These weapons in B Tier remain viable, but could still use a slight buff in order for more players to seriously consider using them. Unfortunately, this is where the fun stops. These ARs aren't as popular, nor as statistically sound compared to the guns above.

C Tier

  • FR 5.56
  • AK-47 (MW)
  • FN Scar 17

Whether it's for long-range or sniper support, these C Tier rifles are still not close to having a place in the meta and definitely need some buffs in Warzone.
